wkor, you are a reseller of the packages, whether it was Shift's or Nextv, in any case, you never developed anything and you don't understand much in this technology. When you refer to Sedar's paper, you have to know some details, Shift "licensed" these channels from a third company, that is never acquired the signal by themselves. They were reselling the signal, just like you do. When I say that most of these channels cannot be licensed I know what I am talking about, since these are not international versions of the channels and have no right to be broadcasted beyond Russian Federation. Same applies to German, Italian and other channels.

Also, Nextv is already showing the channels that are not present in the list of channels, they just say More Channels. Why do you think that happens? Because they "forgot to update their web site"? Give me a break.

Your last post, once again, shows your lack of credibility.  You continue to make unsubstantiated and potentially slanderous claims.

For example, you assert that I am a reseller.  Based on what?  In fact, in relation to either the IPTV or ethnic programming fields, I am merely a consumer.  I never claimed to be otherwise.

Second example, you assert that I "never developed anything".  You do not even know me.  How do you know what I have or have not accomplished in my chosen career?

It would be appreciated if you would finally state your agenda.  Certainly, as previously pointed out by RedAce, your posts tend to have a certain negative slant.

My agenda is simple, I am trying to be informative and to exchange ideas and experiences with others in relation to using IPTV to watch ethnic programming.

In terms of the German programming that NexTV offers, I have to agree with you that ZDF is really the only channel that I watch.  I have never been very enthusiastic about German commercial television.  In the end, the German commercial channels are not any better than the garbage on American commercial TV.

The public channels (öffentlich-rechtlich) ARD, ZDF, and the regional "dritte Programme" (WDR, MDR, etc.) offer a completlely different level of quality of programming over the commercial stations.  It is those public channels that I miss most from the OverseaTV lineup.  Come to think of it, with the exception of DSF, OverseaTV's lineup was all public channels.

As I have stated previously, I hope that as a minimum NexTV adds ARD (Das Erste).

sorry for late response.

Here is the list of channels that nextv e-mailed me and all of them indeed available including Channel One Russia. Quality is OK not realy digital one but it is expected via IPTV it is not a high def but very watchable. I had TVrossia before and so far nextv provides much better receprion via the same wave 300 that  I used with TVrossia. I do not see any buffering.  I am using  high speed DSL from Verizon  ( $30.00)  I hope I answer your questions

lborov thank you for your answer, please can i ask you do you think that the picture you have now with Nextv is better, clearer. sharper then with tvroyssia??   I had the CMS 500 box so now i am getting the wave 300 so it will be interessting to see the difference,, i really hope it is better because my love is watching RTR SPORT.   Ok thank you  for your information!!   RedAce

I may be the only one but between 5:30 pm and around 7:00 pm I get horrible breakup and bufferring on Next TV (Russian channeles).  The rest of the time it is fine, but unfortunately, that is when most of the programs my wife likes are broadcast.

No, you are not the only one.  Although I initially did not notice any breakup / buffering issues.  This was based on my initial impression after activating my STB around noon (EST) on Monday of this week.

Since then, I have noticed that in the early evening hours (around 8 PM EST) there is some breakup (I have the German package).  This is not the case in the morning, nor around noon time.  It only occurs in the evening.  This was not the case when I had OverseaTV.

Considering that I have a 15 Gb/s DL service from Cablevision (I have measured about 13-14 Gb/s using speedtest.net), I do not think that is the issue.  It is either 1) higher internet traffic in the evening hours or 2) NexTV not being able to fully handle the capacity of the higher viewership during "prime" viewing hours.

I hope this issue will be resolved.

The resolution appears to be better than OverseaTV.  However, it is still not "broadcast quality" NTSC.  Additionally, the picture appears to still be at 30 frames per second, which it not so noticeable if you are watching a movie, but if you are watching a live or videotaped program, which in its original format is usually at frame rate of either 50 (Europe) or 60 (USA) interlaced , you do see a difference.
